Never waste paper :)

I had some grainy watercolor paper and tested some coloring on it. Well not that exciting and the outcome was not really something to admire, haha.

So I took my fineliner (0,5 mm) and drew some pattern on it.

Coloring with Faber Castell color pencils and some Neocolor. Was not so easy because of the structure of the paper and does not look so smooth, bu I must say that I like this effect 🙂

Surprises…

Often I just take some paper to try out some water colors to see how they look when dried up or mixed and often it just ends up being cut in pieces for drawing on the backside or even on the colored side.

But sometimes I look at it and see something. That happened with this one. I was trying out one of the Jane Davenport Mermaid markers and while I was drying it….this little guy merged out of it 🙂

So I grabbed my fine liner and added some lines.

To bad you can’t see the shimmer/glitter which is on top of the background color, it’s not easy to catch on photo 🙂

Sketching habit

In 2019 I want to get in to the sketching with just a pencil en paper stump. So I got out my simple and cheap sketchbook which I was not using as the paper is not that thick and it turns out perfect for this 🙂

This are the first sketches in it 🙂 I want to do this daily, so sometimes it will just be a quick one with not so much details and sometimes with more details.

Often I will use photos as inspiration for the stuff I want to sketch and hopefully with that I will improve to the point that I don’t need them anymore.

Flamingo

Today I found a really nice embossing folder and needed to try it out when I came home.

Using watercolor and ended with a few splashes too 🙂 I will definitely play around some more with it.

The paper is aquarelpaper (actually you can use it as a postcard too) 300 g/m2.

In the beginning I didn’t like the paper with so much structure but now I think that it’s great for getting some really nice effects.

Nicole

Watercolor experiment #1

I just started the new year with this little project. I finally want to actually play around more with watercolors and thought this might be a nice way to do so.

Using an embossing mall and some cold pressed paper. The colors are from Winsor Newton. First time using them and I can say that I like the colors.

I didn’t keep good track on the good shading yet, because I am mainly focused on the way how the color works on this paper. It’s still a learning process for me 🙂

This time I just use the color on dry paper, makes it easier for me to keep them separated from each other.
